PEER REVIEW PROCESS

Peer Review Process

All research articles published in Electronic Integrated Computer Algorithm Journal (ENIGMA) undergo editorial screening and independent peer review. The same process applies to every article, including any special issue.

1. Initial Screening

The editor checks each new submission for scope, compliance with the Author Guidelines and template, and similarity using Turnitin. Manuscripts with overall similarity above 20%, outside the scope, or not following the template are returned to the authors or rejected at this stage. Screening is completed within 7 days.

2. Review Type

ENIGMA uses a double-blind review: reviewers do not know the identity of the authors, and authors do not know the identity of the reviewers. Authors must remove their names and affiliations from the manuscript file used for review.

3. Number and Selection of Reviewers

  • Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers (Reviewer A and Reviewer B) with expertise in the subject of the manuscript.
  • The two reviewers are different persons from different institutions, and neither comes from the same institution as any of the authors.
  • Reviewers must declare any conflict of interest and decline the invitation if one exists.
  • Authors may suggest potential reviewers. The editor is not obliged to invite them, and a suggested reviewer is never the only reviewer of a manuscript.

4. Review Criteria

Reviewers assess originality, relevance to the scope, soundness of the methods, validity of the results, clarity of presentation, and quality and currency of the references. Reviewers complete their review within 14 days of accepting the invitation.

5. Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewers' reports, the editor decides to accept, request minor revision, request major revision, or reject the manuscript. When reviewers disagree, the editor may invite an additional reviewer. Reviewer comments are sent to the authors through the journal system.

6. Revision

Authors return the revised manuscript within 14 days, together with a response to each reviewer comment. Revised manuscripts after major revision are returned to the reviewers. The final decision is made by the Editor in Chief.

7. Manuscripts by Editors and Reviewers

Manuscripts authored by members of the editorial board or reviewer team are handled by another editor, and the author takes no part in any decision on their own manuscript. Such manuscripts do not exceed 25% of the articles in any issue.

8. Timeline

The target time from submission to first decision is about 30 days. Received, revised, and accepted dates are shown on each published article.

9. Confidentiality and Use of AI

Manuscripts under review are confidential. Reviewers and editors must not share them or upload them to generative AI tools, and must not use such tools to write review reports or editorial decisions.

10. Appeals

Authors who believe a decision was made in error may send a reasoned appeal to editor.enigma@yasib.com. Appeals are handled by an editor who was not involved in the original decision.
